in response to blesseed...I'm sorry that this has happened. You can call to a neighboring city or state and ask them. That's the only thing that I could do.They might be more receptive if you did it yourself. Good Luck and God Bless
does anyone one know of a good place in wisconsin that will be able to fix a truck we do have to running order that will not charge the disabled that have no income and a wife who gets very little unemployment? salvation army dont the most here thry give is 50.00 , goodwill dont help except for food, st.vincent the most 50.00 if you got no help from anyone else.theres no county aid i know ive been fighting my workers comp claim since 2000 won it, but now that they found be to be 100% disabled after 2 failed spinal fusions, millions in bills, etc and meds 24hrs aday for pain, they want to appeal, so now another 2 yrs min. of waiting just to drag it out or try to find a way not to pay me. well that adds up to still no income. i filed for ssi, ssd but as per my atty. expect to be turned down the first fileing and then appeal it but either way thats 2 yrs out as well, the state says- thats just the way things are set up, there really is no intrest in setting up any new plans to start programs to help the poor. wow our goverment said, people are like batteries once the battery gors dead just replace with a new one. i asked so then were do i go for help then because im injured and disabled perm. because of it at work, there remark was well if things are that bad ther are hospitals if your mentally disabled or prisons if you break the law because theres nothing out here.then you wouldnt have the worries at least. wow can you belive this goverment? anyway if some one can help us asap we would be forever greatful to you. thanks wisconsin goverment for all your doing to hurt people that worked there whole life, then get hurt at work, and because of the great laws you have in place to help ins. comps., and the companys them selfs, so they dont have to pay or take 20yrs to do so in hopes you just go away. just think wisconsins the birthplace of workers comp. the state that will always side with the companys and and ins. companys just for the big dollar kick backs, who cares who it hurts. the worst part of it these same rules and laws will be in every state by 2015, so if you are geeting help in another state, and they force them to pay your med. bills, a weekly check etc. soon it will be gone and millions more will be in this same boat and things in this country then will be worse then the nat. debt. thanks to all who do care and that are will to help people like us, you people are what make life living for.

in response to shellymea...All I have are the ones on the list of my post, that's all. you might call your representative or congress person and ask if they know of any programs like that, churches, United Way, Catholic charities, Salvation Army, Goodwill or ask one or two on the post that are nearest you and your local. Oh, you might try Soulight she has a listing andI think it's different. May God Bless

i go for low cost car, however, before you buy a low cost car, be sure that this car is working. how would you know if that car is still in good condition? if you're going to purchase it, try first to consult a reliable auto repair mechanic.
in response to theshivelys...It's been a while since I posted those and I don't remember but if you find oneclose by, within a state or two, call them up and ask if they have anything closer or know of one in your area. Hope this helps.
in response to Schmidty...No, thank you; you were a wonderful help in calming me and that helps with my health. I called all of the vehicle organizations and unfortunately because I am not living in the states that offer such I am out of luck there, but I am not giving up. I am now looking at salvage yards and wrecker places; I was told they may have something. Thank you so much, you really did help last night.
in response to LadyValhalla...Yes, keep trying and remember that I'm hear with an ear and a shoulder , if you need them. Thank you for the kind words. Good Luck and God Bless
thanks for the list. I called those in my area and they are unfortunately unable to assist because my ex has the kids, but I am not giving up. Thank you for talking to me and being so kind last night; you are a wonderful person.
in response to chrysta1114...Thanks, hope it doesn't get to bad your way. Right now it's just cold here, spitting a little but holding my breath. See ya
in response to Schmidty...Thanks Schmidty, you have always been a great help to me. The weather is starting to get little icy but expecting a lot of snow. I hope every thing goes well for you.and have a great day.
in response to chrysta1114...Duh, I knew the towns name sounded familiar. I feel stupid now, after you said that it came back to me. Well, it shows I was thinking about you and trying to get you extra work.hahahah Geesh,I hate to admit it but sometimes I try going through these so fast thatthe names, unless they are there every dayjust kind of float through may head. Nothing to stop it mind you.
How have you been? Has that storm hit you yet? I appreciatee your offer but I have a couple of good watches and don't need another. I liked the one because it had so many functions to it. I've been keeping them more simple now. I'm sorry I didn't recognize your name, I knew I knew it but it just didn't rgister.Good Luck and God Bless
in response to Schmidty...Schmidty I am the one you sent the watches to.and glad to say I Know more about watches now by trial and error. your the one who got me started in my watch business. I tried to fix the watch you like the most but I could not get it working. My offer still stands for a free working watch since your the one who got me started.just say the word and I will ship it to you.
in response to Schmidty...Hi Schmidy. The the ignition module is separate than the coil pack.I took the coil pack housing of and notice hair line cracks on the housing.I check for spark the way you suggested and has no spark.so I'm going to replace the housing and coil pack and get the ignition module check at advance auto.that little part cost one hundred and fifty dollars and I have study this so much I am going to try to repair it my self once the storm passes threw Cameron Missouri. Thanks for your help.

in response to chrysta1114...If you don't mind my asking, what fairly large town are you near, you can send it one to one.I had one guy who wanted to work on watches that might know someone if it was near..
in response to chrysta1114...I haven't kept up with things now days but isn't the idnition module the coilpack? Anyway if you have a book or can et the manual online you can test the coild by taking the coil wire out stick a screw driver in the hole where the wire came out and with rubber cloves hold the coil wire near it and you should be able to hear and see a spark, same with the ignition module. You can illiminateyour problems that way.More than likely ,I'd say it would be the coil pack , if I can remember the lingo I think the ignition module is what they called the brain on earlier models.
You could contact a school as starshine hasconcluded usually they will take them in for small jobs that they could do in a class or two, manly for the testing.
Have you asked some of the males in church or you could put up a note at the store, gas station , tavern, etc that you need a handy man to install this part and you are williing to pay X amount of dollars or like you said , you could fix it yourself.
When I was in the 4th or 5th grade I lived a couple of house down from a teenage gal who tool automechanics in school and was building her own car. That was unusual for the time.
in response to chrysta1114...You are welcome and Schmidty has a lot of info on cars and mine is just first hand try to fix it one time myself other than that the ex tried to work on it then I took car too someone. I didn't like getting under a car to change oil. Yuck. I knew how to put gas in the car something I taught mom how to do. It was cheaper or I would do it for her.
in response to chrysta1114...Good for you and sorry you can not get a young man to help you. My car had a flat. Barb and me waited for auto club to show up. We got a man to loosen the nuts on the wheel and changed the tire ourselves leaving before 'HELP" arrived. So women can do just about anything. Determination is the key and hope the weather lightens up for you and all is well.
Take care and let me know when you get the car running again

in response to Starshine...I have tried every thing available in this area about my car repair.and my best solution is learn every thing I can about the problem with my car and try to repair it my self. I feel pretty confident that I can repair it.If I can keep my Hands from not shaking I may be able to do it.Heck who knows my shaky hands might help loosen the bolts.North west Missouri is going to get a snow storm so I will have to wait for that to clear.I have to do it in my parking lot.I'm determined to get this car of mine back on the road.
in response to chrysta1114...Hello and someone here yesterday said they took their car into an adult education class for car repair and got reduced rates. I know a college here I got my smog check done at for cheaper and they fixed cars too. I call around and price the parts you need verses depend on the dealers cost as I find it cheaper at other places then my car dealer matches the price. Saved 200 bucks that way so it helps.
Good luck

in response to Schmidty...Hi Schmidty,my car is 1997 pontiac grand am SE 4 cyl. and It coil pack and a coil pack housing the won't start at all turns over but has no spark. in response to special mom...As I said right above this message. You can tell whomever that when you speak to them but I'd let them tell you what they think first.Good Luck
I wish I knew some body in Missouri to help me on my car.I have signed up at Cameron community Partnership.I was approved they sent me to a mechanic and gave them a estimate on how much it would cost. then a week later they told me the program was canceled.so when I get my disability check every month I put a hundred dollars towards getting my car repaired.I google the type of car I have and try to learn how to fix it myself. If any body knows a Mechanic in my area that would take payments to fix my car please let me know.
in response to Schmidty...It needs a valve job. I am not sure, but I may need to get a used engine. It is a 2003 Eddie Bauer Explorer and in great shape, so I think it is best to fix it. I don't think I can replace it cheaper than fixing it, but I am open to options.
in response to Schmidty...I am not sure how to get to the list. I have looked for it, but can't seem to find it.
Can you please tell me how to find it?
Thank you.
in response to special mom...I think in the list I have that Houston is one of the areas that are covered, number 74 FortWorth, number 42 Houston, number 27 Fort Worth, and 23 Bryan, Texas. Remember to tell them you want your car fixed not replaced unless it is necessary. But I must wonder if you even looked at the list?
I am a widow with 4 kids at home, 2 with special needs. They have many medical appointments during the month. My car needs a valve job, and I don't have the resources to fix it. I am also a minister and need my car to attend church, make calls on people, and for work. I need assistance in fixing my car, or get another one.
I am in the Houston Texas area.
in response to blacklepard1...Yes the addresses that are on here will more than likely fix your car because it's better than giving a car away. What is wrong with it? If you aren't afraid of getting your hands dirty, I might be able to help you fix it. Good Luck.God Bless
there is no one out here in maine that would help me fix my car.I need it to visit my kids.I lost my kids because of this i couldnt take them to the doctors or anything. They said if i can get my car fix i can see them any time i want but its hard for being disabled.can anyone tell me if there is a program that helps out with getting your car fix ty
I'm sory , I tried to change the information but it has been posted long enough that the edit, remove, and reply no longer show up. So, It's duly noted and I appreciate that you let me know and in the future if it changes so that I can change it I will. Thank You again.
in response to TWC...OK, thank you I will change that. They must have changed phone numbers, can't imagine why, or who ever got the informatio to put in this book made a mistake, Thank You again.
I just found out that everyone needs to be leary of car care minstries, it seems that they are what they propose to be and the "Help" they give is almost useless. I'm sorry they are on that list.
